The Perfect, Killer Argument

We’ve reached a point where facts no longer apply to much of anything. Conservatives use objective reality to discern objective facts. We apply those facts in an attempt to determine truth. That truth is a statement that matches actual and objective reality. Liberals hold the same premise, using facts the same way. The problem is whether or not these presumed facts, listed by either ideology are objective. Are they real.

Today, after nearly 60 years of willful destruction of reason by the academics, and after nearly 250 years of philosophic attacks on reason itself, we’ve reached the destination. Mind no longer matters. Reality no longer matters. Facts are impossible to determine. Reason no longer functions. And still the conservatives try to use facts and argument to halt the deluge of collapsing systems around the world.

Any fact; any philosophy; any observation; any statement; all of them can be instantly wiped out by one simple argument. Are you faced with an overwhelming argument against your position? There’s one, single thing you can say that will instantaneously bring the opposition to their knees. Want to know the secret, super-duper nuclear logic weapon?

“Well, that’s YOUR opinion!”

Yup. That’s all it takes. All you have to do in any argument, debate, discussion, analysis, assessment, or anywhere else that someone uses facts to contradict your point of view is make that single statement: “Well, that’s what YOU say!”

Try it. Here are several different sets of facts and statements. Some of them, until modern educators got ahold of the system, used to be actual facts. Can you tell which ones? Following each statement, think to yourself, “Well, that’s what YOU say!” For fun and variety, think to yourself, “Well, that’s YOUR opinion!” You’ll see that you can destroy every single statement entirely.

  • The earth revolves around the sun.
  • 2 + 2 = 4
  • What goes up must come down.
  • Energy is neither created nor destroyed, only changing form.
  • Touching a burning coal will burn your finger.

Here’s another set of facts:

  • Global warming will destroy the world in our lifetimes.
  • The federal government has our best interests at heart.
  • President Obama is doing his best to help solve our economic troubles.
  • Rush Limbaugh is presenting a reasonable view of things.
  • Nobody breaks their promises.

And then there are other facts:

  • God will always protect us from evil.
  • Trees can tell us the secrets of the universe if we listen closely enough.
  • Children aren’t capable of lying.
  • People always have something within them that’s worth saving.
  • The natural desire for all people is to live in harmony.

Does it really matter what sort of facts we’re proposing? Do we really need $64 words to separate out the categories of facts? No. Nobody really gives a crap. ALL of these statements, and any or every other possible statement ever made by anyone can be instantly wiped out. All anyone ever has to say in response is:

“Well, that’s YOUR opinion!”
