That Great Sucking Sound – Phase 2

I remember when we all were going back and forth about NAFTA, the North American Free Trade Agreement. It’s designed to create a better economic structure between the US, Mexico and Canada, and was signed into place in 1993 for the US by Bill Clinton.

One of the catch phrases that we heard about, over and over again, was that we’d all hear a great sucking sound as jobs vanished out of the US and went over the borders. Now we’ll get to hear that same sucking sound as capital and wealth disappear out of the United States.

The stock market sure looks good, what with everyone ecstatic over the new Obama presidency. That probably has nothing to do with the return to downward movement. Then there’s the “world elation” being reported, with everyone else on the planet celebrating the new day in America.

All we’ll need to do is sit back and watch investment money come pouring into the United States now. We probably can just cancel the bailout plan, since all that outside money’s about to happen, right?
