Who’s Behind Obama?

We’re about a week or so away from the November 2008 Presidential elections and I’ve never seen any article anywhere questioning how Mr. Obama went from near obscurity to his current polling position. Not one.

I understand how Ms. Palin went from nowhere to high visibility. An already world-famous candidate (as would be any candidate) chose her as a running mate, conferring instant newsworthiness. The news interest in Gov. Palin is a natural and logical reaction to her having been highlighted by Mr. McCain.

But Mr. Obama wasn’t automatically assigned this kind of visibility as a result of someone already famous. He chose to enter the primaries, but had only a relatively small amount of money. He must have had some backing in this decision, and promises of financial support. Who was that who made the promises?

I wonder if it’s because Mr. Obama has so little real background or accomplishment? Would some group of people suspect they might have access to the White House if he were elected?
